The second IRB student awards were given to Julia Noack (Protein Folding and Quality Control Lab) and to Dominik Aschenbrenner (Cellular Immunology Lab) for their outstanding work during the 2013-2014 PhD Program Lecture Course. It rewards their participation, their exceptional efforts and improvements during the IRB PhD program and journal club series. The Awardees were selected by Dr. Silvia Monticelli, Coordinator of the PhD Program.
Every year, a three days-long student retreat is organized outside the IRB headquarter to give the IRB students the opportunity to present an abstract, a poster and/or to give a seminar about their research project and results. This year, the IRB annual Student Retreat took place on May 13-15 in Engelberg. It was co-organized by Prof. Marcus Thelen and three PhD students: Dominik Aschenbrenner, Marco Bardelli and Silvia Preite. Usually, three selected international experts in the research areas of the IRB are also invited to attend and give a seminar. This year Prof. Jens Stein from the Theodor Kocher Institute in Bern, Prof. Daniela Finke from the University of Basel and Dr. Adrian Liston from the VIB, University of Leuven in Belgium were the three selected international experts and guest speakers to attend the retreat.
The IRB wishes to congratulate Julia and Dominik for their achievements.
The actual award was created and hand-made by Mrs. Bea Pasteris.
