Bellinzona, Feb. 2, 2023 – Last Feb. 2, the Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB) and the Institute of Oncology Research (IOR) had the pleasure of welcoming a delegation of professors from the Electrical Engineering Department of the Haute Ecole d’Ingegnerie et d’Architecture of the Canton of Fribourg (HEIA-FR) who were in Ticino for an extra-muros session. The group, coordinated by Prof. Lorenzo Pirrami, was initially introduced to the history, present and prospects of the Bellinzona Research Institutes by Dr. Elisa Randi and Andrea Nava. Dr. Sara Maffei then introduced the Bios+ (Bellinzona Institutes of Science) facilities, explained their functions, and showed the new building inaugurated in November 2021. Finally, Dr. Concetta Guerra presented to the delegation the research projects of the IRB laboratory “Computational Structural Biology” (Dr. Andrea Cavalli) and the latest discovery to which she personally contributed.
For IRB and IOR, the occasion was propitious to introduce themselves, to show the new Bios+ building and to share experiences and possible collaborations. We thank the HEIA-FR delegation for the visit.
