For the third time, the clinical and scientific meeting of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (EADV) is taking place in Ticino. The meeting is divided into two sessions: a research (November 11, 2011, at the Institute for Research In Biomedicine, IRB, Bellinzona) and a clinical sessions (November 17, 2011, Regional Hospital, Lugano). It is organized in collaboration with Dr. Gianluca Vanini from the Department of Allergy and Immunology, and Dr. Charles Mainetti from the Department of Dermatology (EOC).
EADV is a non-profit association, founded in 1987, whose mission is to advance excellence in clinical care, research, education and training in the field of dermatology and Venereology and to act as the advocate and educator of patients particularly those with cutaneous or venereal diseases (http://www.eadv.org/about-eadv).
During this meeting, renowned researchers and physicians in the field coming from all over Switzerland and Italy will discuss the important advances which resulted from their collaboration. In addition, future issues to be addressed, design of new clinical and scientific studies with collection of the appropriate material from patients and information on their diseases as well as application of new diagnostic and therapeutic methods will be discussed. The overall goal being to facilitate clinical care, research, education and training in dermatology, venereology and related fields in Ticino.
EADV hopes that the program of 2011 will awaken interest and attention not only of all the local dermatologists, but also of the allergists, immunologists, internists and oncologists as all these medical fields are overlapping.
