The CTI / KTI program is a federally funded research grant program designed to move innovation from the universities and institutes into practical business applications. Grants are made to consortia of researchers and businesses in key strategic areas to encourage companies to invest in projects which would otherwise be considered high-risk.
Funded projects are then encouraged to develop into business units or even start-up companies with the help of professional consultants and coaches. A successful start-up that has passed the steps of CTI / KTI startup earns a label which should help during the initial funding of the company through venture capital.
As part of their tour of Swiss centers of technological excellence, two representatives of the CTI / KTI office visited the IRB on the 28th of June.
