At the 8th European Network of Immunology Institutes (ENII) Summer school, which took place in Porto Conte, Alghero (Italy) from 27 May to 3 June, Simone Becattini was awarded the Oustanding Poster Award for his poster entitled “Deciphering the Class and Specificity of the T Cell Response to C. albicans”.
The ENII Summer School is designed for PhD students and early post docs who have a basic knowledge of immunology. It is a six-day course that is combined with lectures from the guest faculty experts, and that are followed by smaller tutorial sessions. The poster sessions take place in the evenings and permit to the faculty experts and students to mingle and discuss the students’ works. Student prizes are awarded to the top posters at the end of the course.
Simone is currently performing his doctoral studies in the laboratory of Dr. Federica Sallusto.
In his project, Simone is using complementary approaches to study the human T cell immune response to Candida albicans, in order to define the class of T cell response and to identify immunodominant and protective antigens. These studies are expected to provide useful information for the design of new vaccines against C. albicans.
The IRB congratulates Simone.
