Sara Montagner successfully defended her PhD thesis, which was presented at the University of Bern, Switzerland, on May 18, 2016. Her thesis title was “Understanding mast cell proliferation and functions via epigenetic modifications and microRNAs”, and the work was performed in the laboratory of Silvia Monticelli. Her co-supervisor was Prof. Hans-Uwe Simon, her mentor Prof. Mariusz Nowacki, both from the University of Bern, Switzerland, while her external examiner was Prof. Mamta Tahiliani from the New York University School of Medicine, United States of America. She received the title of “PhD of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology”.
