Giorgia Brambilla Pisoni successfully defended her PhD thesis, which was presented at the ETH of Zurich, Switzerland. In her thesis, entitled “In vivo characterization of TMX1: TMX1 preferentially acts upon transmembrane polypeptides” Giorgia presented her contribution to the better characterization of poorly characterized members of the protein disulfide isomerase (PDI) superfamily operating as catalyzators of protein folding and unfolding in the lumen of the mammalian endoplasmic reticulum. Her work was performed in the laboratory of Maurizio Molinari. Giorgia’s co-referees were Prof. Markus Aebi and Prof. Paola Picotti at the ETH-ZH and Prof. Roberto Sitia at the Ospedale San Raffaele, Milan.
