The Flow Cytometry Facility provides investigators with equipment and support for cell sorting (separation), acquisition, and analysis of flow cytometric data with a variety of state-of-art multicolor flow cytometry instruments.
SORP FACSymphony S6 is a conventional flow cytometer and cell sorter equipped with five lasers (488, 561, 640, 355, and 405 nm excitation wavelengths) and 28 fluorescence detection channels. It can perform high-speed sorting (up to 20, 000 events/sec) with high purity (up to 99%)
BD FACSDiscover S8 is a spectral flow cytometer and cell sorter that merges full-spectrum fluorescence detection with real-time high-speed imaging for cell analysis and sorting. It features five excitation lasers (349 nm, 405 nm, 488 nm, 561 nm, 637 nm) and up to 78 detector channels, enabling highly multiplexed panels and improved autofluorescence discrimination. It has the integrated “CellView” technology that captures morphological and fluorescent images of individual cells at high speed (via PMTs rather than a conventional camera) and allows sorting decisions based on image-based features like protein localization, cell shape or internal structure.

ImageStream MkII cytometer combines traditional flow cytometry with high-resolution imaging capabilities. It captures detailed images of individual cells as they flow past a camera, allowing simultaneous measurement of fluorescence intensity, morphology, and spatial distribution of cellular components. It’s equipped with 4 laser lines (405, 488, 561 and 642 nm).
