The European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (EADV) meeting that will take place in Bellinzona on November 8, 2012 is aimed at fostering clinical care, research, education and training in the fields of dermatology and venereology and in all other related medical fields in Ticino.
For the fourth consecutive year, in close collaboration with the Società Ticinese di Dermatologia, the Institute for Research in Biomedicine (affiliated to USI) and the EADV Scientific committee organized a one-day meeting which will consist, in the morning, of a research session (“Immune response in chronic inflammatory and autoimmune diseases”) at Institute of Research in Biomedicine and in the afternoon, a clinically oriented session (“Cutaneous signs of Systemic diseases: The skin as a window to the body”) at the Cantonal Hospital, Bellinzona.
During this meeting, Swiss and Italian renowned researchers and physicians will present the important advances performed in dermatology and venereology as a result of their collaboration. In the morning research session, several mechanisms of the immune responses of the human skin under normal as well as pathological (psoriasis and pemphigus) conditions will be discussed. The afternoon clinical session will instead focus on the skin manifestations of several diseases such as monoclonal gammopathies, gastroinstestinal diseases or lymphomas. Updates on the diagnostic and therapeutic methods for other skin diseases will also be presented. This meeting will also be an opportunity to redefine the collaboration between researchers and physicians especially in terms of future research plans and design of new clinical and scientific studies.
The EADV (http://www.eadv.org/about-eadv), which has its headquarter in Lugano, is a non-profit association, founded in 1987. It currently represents the largest European association in the fields of dermatology and venereology.
