{"id":7662,"date":"2007-03-01T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2007-02-28T22:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/irb.usi.ch\/uncategorized\/promoting-careers-in-science\/"},"modified":"2007-03-01T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2007-02-28T22:00:00","slug":"promoting-careers-in-science","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/irb.usi.ch\/it\/news\/promoting-careers-in-science\/","title":{"rendered":"Promoting Careers in Science"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"news-publication\"><span>on<\/span> <span class=\"date-display-single\">March 1, 2007<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\n\t<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"\/images\/news-promoting-careers-science.png\" style=\"width: 300px; height: 161px\"><\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe Department of Education of the Canton Ticino, together with the Faculty of Innovative Technology of the SUPSI, the Swiss National Center for Super Computing and the IRB have launched a joint initiative to encourage young people to explore the possibilities of a scientific or technological career.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tAimed at middle school students, the campaign,\u201cNoi:Futuro\u201dhopes to increase awareness of the science and technology careers with special emphasis on female students. Statistics show that in Switzerland and Europe an ever-decreasing number of students choose to pursue a career in science or technology.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tTo combat this trend a working group has been created to find new channels of information including a poster competition as well as a series of events and initiatives.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe IRB will participate in a series of laboratory activities in Immunology in which IRB scientists will guide a group of students through a hands-on experience of immunological research.
