His thesis title was \u201c<em>Mechanisms of regulation of human T cell activation and GM-CSF production<\/em>\u201d and the study was performed in the&nbsp;Molecular Immunology lab headed by Dr. Silvia Monticelli at the Institute&nbsp;for Research in Biomedicine, in Bellinzona. His PhD committee was composed by&nbsp;Prof. Britta Engelhardt, Co-advisor, and Prof. Dr. Siegfried Hapfelmeier, Mentor, both of&nbsp;them from the University of Bern (CH), while his external Co-referee was&nbsp;Dr. Dirk Baumjohann from the Institute for Immunology, Ludwig-Maximilians-Universit\u00e4t LMU, Munich (DE).
