His thesis title was \u201cMolecular regulation of cytokine production and response to <em>Mycobacterium tuberculosis<\/em> by human CD4 memory T cells\u201d and the work has been done in the Cellular Immunology laboratory of Federica Sallusto. His co-advisor was Prof. Christoph M\u00fcller, his mentor Prof. Jens Stein, both from the University of Bern, while his external examiner was Prof. Francesco Annunziato from the University of Florence, Italy.
