His thesis title was \u201c<em>Role of ATP-gated ionotropic P2X7 receptor in T effector memory cell physiology<\/em>\u201d and the work has been done in the T Cell Development laboratory of Fabio Grassi. His co-advisor was Prof. J\u00fcrg Gertsch, his mentor Prof. Marlene Wolf, both from the University of Bern, while his external examiner was Prof. Giuseppe Matarese from the University of Naples.
