The two day course was offered by the IRB and was attended by students from Uni Bern and the IRB. Rolf Spirig,Tatjana Petkovic, Nicole Spiegl,Flurina Clement, Svenja J\u00fcnger, Kathrin Gollmer, Thusitha Gajanayake, Christina Helbig, Silvia Volpe,Tiziana Apuzzo,Tito Cal\u00ec, Olivier Urwyler, Jos\u00e9 Gorrasi, Priska Lochmatter, Annika Quast. The discussions covered the following topics:<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n\t\tCalcium signaling, lipid and protein kinases in cell activation<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n\t\t\t\tMarcus Thelen (IRB, Bellinzona)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\tHypoxia and cellular responses to oxygen<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n\t\t\t\tChristian Frei (Institute of Cell Biology, ETHZ).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\tThe mitochondrial death pathway and its regulation in diseases<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n\t\t\t\tHans-Uwe Simon (Institute of Pharmacology, University of Berne).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\tDeath receptor signaling and cytotoxicity<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n\t\t\t\tThomi Brunner (Institute of Pathology, University of Bern).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\tER stress<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n\t\t\t\tMaurizio Molinari (IRB,Bellinzona).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\n\tCurz\u00f9tt<br \/>\n\tExams were held on the last day of the conference. About the location: the Fondazione Curz\u00f9tt &#8211; San Barnard was established in 1998 with the aim of reviving the main historic, artistic and scenic features of the \u201cCollina Alta\u201dof Monte Carasso near Bellinzona.
